The Task

Bustle was hosting their first annual “Bustle Rule Breakers” at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It was a day-long event filled with live music, tons of food and drinks, fun activities from sponsors, retro roller skating and performances by all female leading performers from the likes of Sofi Tukker to headliner Janelle Monáe. Fossil was going to debut their new mood watches in the skating rink – which would be transformed into the Fossil Mood Lounge. They were looking for seating that would allow a crowd of people to view the concert while inside the skating arena. In addition to seating, Bustle requested us to make a “mood wall” that set as a perfect backdrop/photo-opp for the skating performances throughout the event.

The Solution

Working with the vision of Bustle’s creative director, our team came up with a solution using Smartdeco. We created 10×30 LED bleachers with multiple levels, making it easy for people to climb and sit on while also skating. Along with that, we created unique LED pyramid seating that included display cases of the Fossil watches, giving the attendees an up close and personal view of the products. For the wall, we built a 10×30 LED wall that was covered in custom SEG printed fabric. Both the wall and the seating elements changed colors specifically to coordinate with the colors featured in the moods of the Fossil watches. Overall, the skating ring was completely transformed into a “mood lounge” that created and the seating and mood wall were inviting, engaging and entirely effective.
